Getting Rid of Granuloma Annulare

Hi! I am posting this in the hopes that it might help some of you out there who suffer from GA. I have had GA sense I was a little girl. I had it first on my ankle then it went to my back. My mom took me to the dermatologist and when they finally found out what it was they gave me some cream and it went away my mom said, I was really little so I don't remember much of it except going to the dermatologist. Anyway it stayed away for a really long time until I was about 23 yrs old. It came back on my back and on my stomach. I starting using a steroid cream which it help but the spots would only stay away for a short time. Then I started to lay in the tanning bed and the spots went away and stayed away until after I had my second son at 25 yrs old. It came back this time under the top part of my arms and really bad on my right foot and on my left ankle. So I again recently have started to lay back in the tanning bed and it's been 2 wks and I can tell a difference the spots are getting lighter and seem to be going away again. I hope this info helps some of you out there that aren't seeming to get the results you want from medicine.

  1. Hi, thanks for posting. I am 41 and I've had it since I was a little too. I have been to over a dozen different doctors with no new answers…only new creams. The topical creams have made my skin very very thin where the GA is and now on top of having the GA, I also have 70 yr old woman skin. Mine started on my ankles and then went onto my shins and wrists during my teen years. Doctors always said it would go away on its own, but it has only spread and continues to spread. It's not on the backs of my thighs, my elbos, by foreams and underarms, back of my hands and stomach! I noticed it almost went away or got lighter while I was pregnant, but it's back in full force. I will try the light next!

    • i have had this condition for about eight years. i am soon, really soon to turn 57 yrears old. this started with a roundish looking red raised spot on the mtop of my right hand, my doctor at the time said…”looks like ring worm”, ” no maybe lupus”…bla bla bla. He then said let me try something..I said ok, he said this would get rid of it ??? stil not knowing or telling me what it was and not knowing at the time before I went into my apointment to see him i had been researching. so he walked out of the room..saying I’ll bee right back…..then as he camw back..he said he was looking some things up on what my problem could possibly be.well, unbeknowing to my doctor..during my previous research i found that I may have this Granuloma Annulare. when he came back…this is exactly what he said he found that it could.
so he told me that these so called tiny tiny trigger shots of steroid injections around the areas would make the areas go away, but what he failed to advised me of…was that it would not stop them and it was something that I would have to live with /which he told me this later after many, many, many times of getting these trigger shots (and if I faied to mentioned..I was putting on weight)
I was told and reasearch and not by this doctor that steroids woud make you gain weight…along with al of the of the other steroid shots he was giving to me each month (between 6 to8 in my neck, shoulders, hips, etc…) in which within one year or less I gained around 40 ponds of weight.

i just wanted to tell you people that are suffering with ring worms or granuloma annulare…APLEASE DO NOT GET STEROID SHOTS…PLEASE TRY CLEAR COATS OF FINGERNAIL POLISH.
thank you for taking your time

  2. I meant to say that its NOW on the backs of my thighs and all those other places! and I’ve had it since I was a little girl! Not one doctor has ever asked me what I eat or anything about my lifestyle to compare to other patients incase there is a correlation. They just always want me to try another cream!

  3. Thanks for sharing Ally. Your experience sounds typical unfortunately. I wish you luck with the light therapy. Let us know how it goes.

  4. I got Granuloma about 5 years ago – just about the time I started menopause! In the last 3 months I started taking Amberen – an all natural solution for menopause. Not only were the results dramatic for my menopause symptoms but my Granuloma has started to fade and go away! Can I say it is Amberen for sure? No, but I've had the spots for 5 years & they are now going away. I was so excited by Amberen [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zolpidem ] I started my own website to help other women with my story. I can't help but also thing Amberen has also helped me with Granuloma. Do a search – Put the pause in menopause for my website or http://www.putthepauseinmenopause.com – if anyone else tries Amberen & it also works for your Granuloma please let me know!

  5. I have had GA for about 5 years and every time I go to the dermatologists all they do is give me shots of cortisone in the place on my hands and neck. They give the shots in the bumps and it used to work really good. They would go away. Now where ever they give me the shots it leaves a scar. I have tried creams and they just don’t work. For some reason there are more places on my left hand than on my right. Used to be just on my hands now the bumps are on my arms and at the base of my neck. Not a lot of bumps but if I don’t get the shots when I first see them they get bigger and turn into the rings and they look like you have ring worms. I read somewhere that apple cider vinegar works have any of you tried it?

  6. i have GA for the last 3 yerars am 53 i went to the dematologists and they gave me cream no shot. but they would like me to take pills for it.can anyone tell me if they have medication work.

  7. I have had GA for nine years. I also have lupus. I have tried creams and steroid injections but find that it takes just as long to go away with or without treatment. The sites fade with time. I have been fortunate to only have it on both hands.
